These fees are soon to be a throwback, but for now, many companies are still getting away with charging more tech savvy consumers for using electronic methods of payment. If you are considering a card that charges these fees, find out whether all electronic payments are charged, or only expedited payments. If only expedited payments ("panic" payments you make when you are on top of the due date and there is no other way to get the payment to the company before it is overdue) are charged a fee, then the card may be acceptable. (Just watch your deadlines.
