The first clientele of this configuration were fascinatingly the US Navy which was looking for a supple and flexible building structure to cater their immediate needs to harbor safely their artillery, soldiers and other supplies during the Second World War. Most importantly the structure of the Quonset huts is weatherproof and allows no leakage which is a common threat to most of the perishable material that need storage. However the benefits of this over performing storage mechanism could not hide from the public eye and it soon acquired an important position for general public and soon they were used to erect warehouses, stores, shops, garages and even hangars for aircrafts.
